New Housing Opportunities, Inc. is awarded a $300,000 grant from the Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati

The Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati is an independent foundation dedicated to improving community health and access to health care for vulnerable populations.  The Foundation awards grants to non-profit and governmental organizations for selected health programs and activities in Cincinnati and 20 surrounding counties in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. 

In 2006, The Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati intends to award grants for projects relating to Primary Care and Supportive Services for People with Severe Mental Illnesses.  These grants will continue the work for the Treating the Whole Person Who Has a Severe Mental Illness strategy of the Foundation’s Severe Mental Illness focus area. 

It was announced on Friday – October 13, 2006, that New Housing Opportunities, Inc. (NHO) is a recipient of this grant for their Social Enterprise program. The Health Foundation has awarded NHO $300,000 over three years.  The grant will assist in the start-up costs for the new program. The Social Enterprise program is dedicated to employing specialized populations in rewarding positions in property maintenance, lawn care, and building rehabilitation services that promote lifelong learning and skill development.  Our goal is to increase the integration, independence, and self-sufficiency of this population.


New Housing Opportunities, Inc. is awarded two grants from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati’s Board of Directors approved two Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grants for New Housing Opportunities, Inc (NHO) on December 22, 2006.   

In the second offering of AHP funds, the Bank received 114 applications requesting just over $34 million of AHP funds.  NHO’s applications successfully met the criteria established in the regulation and the Bank’s implementation plan.  NHO was awarded $348,035 for our Cambridge Court property and $533,022 for our Harrison Street property. 

The Affordable Housing Program funds are made available to assist in creating affordable housing within their local community.
